The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday confirmed that Pakistan’s intelligence agencies had identified a major cyber attack by Indian intelligence agencies and APT groups. This cyber attack was targeting the mobile phones and personal gadgets of government officials and military personnel.

In a statement, the military’s media affairs wing said that the cyber attack involved a “range of cyber crimes, including deceitful fabrication (social engineering), by hacking the personal mobiles and personal gadgets of government officials and military personnel”.

The statement added that various targets of “hostile intelligence agencies” and threat actors are being investigated. Pakistan Army has taken necessary measures to thwart such activities, including action against violators of standard operating procedures – SOPs on cyber security, it added.

“An advisory is also being sent to all government departments/ institutions for identifying lapses and enhancing respective cyber security measures,” the ISPR said.

In past many of these hackers and Indian APT Groups have tried to hack and attack different Govt and official websites belonging to Foreign office and public organisations. Govt of Pakistan has been regularly issuing cyber security advisories and cyber alerts for official to follow , also alerting them of any possible attacks.
